Good times, Stick. That's why I loved the film 'Almost Famous'...could relate to it more than I wanted to! I used to do a bit of music writing as well, and the old adage "don't make friends with the band" is totally true, 'cos if you wanted to rip apart their latest record, you could do so without feeling like a total prick!
The Corner...funnily enough I was there last December on a Melbourne trip seeing the original lineup of the Beasts of Bourbon...and it was pretty much as I remembered it, which was heartening! The gig was awesome, too (although my ears did ring for months afterwards).
Of course, a month or so later bassist Brian Hooper fell off a balcony after a gig and is now practically a paraplegiac. He's still making music tho...his
site is pretty cool, too.
