I picked it up, and have to say Halo2 online setup (parties, etc) blow away GR2's. GR2 still makes you hit start, then choose an option, then choose friends list JUST TO SEND AN INVITE.
Play is ok.. Basically I put H2 back into the Xbox after about 1/2 hour of GR2 because I had a tough time finding people to play online. And I LOVED the earlier GR series, so I am not a H2 fanboy. Just not enough different this time around.
