Depends on the weapon. A good inline, like a Knight or Thompson-Center, can hit accurately out to 300 meters if you're pushing a magnum charge; a more traditional weapon is good out to 120-150 meters usually.
The other thing is this: a muzzleloader has a nice, slow, very even recoil because of the low pressure involved. You'll do just fine with a Simmons or BSA. Generally, when someone says "Well you need the SuperDeerSlayer 2005 to be any good!" they're a gadget-fiend who can't shoot. They're buying all these gadgets to take up the slack in their own performance and look badass. Practice, know your weapon, and practice some more; you'll be all set. Leupold scopes are wonderful, but in your case the Simmons, BSA, or Weaver rigs will do just fine.
And honestly, if 100 yards is all the range you're looking at anyway ( is it? ) you shouldn't need a scope anyway, except maybe for target-acquisition, or if you're shooting through really thick brush and need to be really precise.
