Yeah, as the guy above me says, it'd help to know what your diet consists of. With vegetarianism, the less processed the food, the better. If you were eating a lot of pasta or potatoes, for example, or white rice, I'd suggest switching to brown rice or some other whole grain. They have more vitamin and takes longer for the body to break down, which makes it easier for your body to maintain a steady blood sugar level and thus reduces hunger.
I am not a vegetarian, but my wife is, and I eat vegetarian a lot of the time because that's what's on the table and I tend to eat what's put in front of me. She is heavy and has a sedentary job, but has lately been taking off weight by walking more, having the first meal of the day be the big one, and by having the later meals be lighter (consisting mainly of a good soup, or yogurt with fruit (mainly apples) and nuts, or just fruit). She's removed most of the processed carbs and fat from her diet.
I highly recommended apples as a snack when losing weight. Had a friend who went on a dietician supervised diet that was pretty severe and restricted, except that they told him he could have apples (or steamed veggies, which he hates) whenever he wanted them, in whatever quantity. He followed the diet and ate a ton of apples on the side, and he still dropped a lot of weight. Now I'm eating apples for my late-night snacks instead of commercial snacks or ice cream or sweets, and I've dropped a couple of pounds.
