Motherboard situation

Ok this is going to make me look retarded but here goes:

I recently bought a new motherboard: Asus P4S800-MX. Ever since I've been having trouble with my video card. I get vertical yellow and blue bands on my screen sometimes. Sometimes it locks up. My video card when this all started was an ATI Radeon 9700 All In Wonder. When I swap in my ELSA Gladiac 920 everything works fine. I put in a friend's nVidia Geforce 4 (I forget the exact model) and problems occur similar to when I have the ATI in.

With the ATI I had the latest drivers as well as the latest version of .Net framework (as recommended to install on ATI's website). When I put the ELSA in I did not install any drivers yet it works perfectly fine. The nVidia gives me the same problems as the ATI and I have yet to install any drivers for that.

Now, I need this machine for gaming so having the best video card is very necessary. I want to avoid buying a new card entirely if at all possible.

Now, the retarded part - I am not positive if when I got the new mobo I installed the AGP drivers from the system disc that came with it. It's possible I just installed drivers for the integrated VGA. Is this the likely culprit? I am at work now and won't be home until the wee hours but I am just curious as to what others think about this. I hope this is the problem as it can be fixed with ease, even though my ego won't be!

Thanks in advance for any help.
