You say storage drive: You mean in addition to your existing drive that you have not formatted?
SATA drives can be a pain if you're installing windows on them. You need the drivers on a floppy and to insert it when prompted at the Win-install cd's boot request for any 3rd party RAID or SCSI drivers. (Hit F6 when prompted)
I assume you are trying to view the drive through the disk manager in the Computer management MMC? (Rightclick my computer> manage) You may have to format it there first.

Last question: If it's a slave drive have you jumpered it to be just so? Have you also jumpered your boot drive to be the master instead of just cable select?
