Hey there, Strange Famous. There's alot of great advice in this thread.
This process is hard work, and requires alot of will power. You've already taken the first step - admitting that you've got a problem.
The next steps, like dieting, exercise, etc. take varying degrees of willpower.
I can tell you that, in my own experience, cutting out stuff like soda and junk food from your diet is extremely easy and worthwhile, and its even easier if you initally replace it with something healthy instead of just leaving a gap. ie: soft drinks become diet ice tea (Turkey Hill makes a really good one); pre-cooked meals become something more healthy, like a fish filet (very easy to cook).
Also, if its not in your fridge, it will never end up on your plate. Don't buy stuff that you know is bad for you. Its usually easier to control yourself at the store than in the kitchen.
Definitely join a gym. Its alot more motivating to exercise with other exercising people rather than by yourself.
Good luck!
