Bah never!
The new one was far too preoccupied with making the zombies 'realistic', the original was more about character, wit and self parody, that's what made it so damn good. I mean in the remake, the zombies are these like really fast, terrifying creatures, in the original they were essentially a giant satire of the American public, slow, plodding, vacant, at the mall just because. (I'm not saying that all Americans are like this or anything, niether is Romero really, I mean he's simply paying out that particular archetype) who are treated somewhat contemptuously by the major characters, who punch and shoot them etc with glee. It was far more enjoyable since it wasn't perfect realism and never tried to be. Plus, the undertones of rampant misanthropy are delightfully dark and funny.
