This wasn't worthy of a thread on it's own -- it's just one more entertaining bit of NJ Politics nonsense -- we're so proud of our state...
Convicted Sex Offender Runs for Congress
A Green Party candidate for Congress can stay on the ballot despite being on probation for a sex offense conviction, the state attorney's general office said Friday.
Daryl Brooks is not disqualified from seeking the federal office by his crime or his inability to vote, the attorney's general office said.
The U.S. Constitution requires that House candidates be at least 25 years old, a U.S. citizen for at least seven years and a resident of the state they seek to represent.
Brooks could have been disqualified if he had sought state office. New Jersey requires such candidates to be registered voters, and people on probation are not allowed to vote.
Brooks was released from prison in 2002 after serving nearly four years for exposing himself to several girls in 1995.
Brooks does not have a phone listing and could not be reached for comment. The Green Party did not immediately return a call seeking comment Friday.
He is running for the 12th District in central New Jersey, where Democratic Rep. Rush D. Holt is seeking his fourth term

There seems to be something dreadfully wrong when a person who CAN'T VOTE but is still allowed to run for office... Guess our founding fathers didn't see people like Brooks in our future... (OH, and the Green Party, says that they're not actively pushing him as a candidate -- Good Plan!)
