Prince changed his name to the symbol, and changed it back to Prince when he was let out of his Warner's contract in 1996. His first album (
Emancipation) was still credited by the Symbol. He changed it in 1999, saying in a press conference saying that he no longer needed it.
I'm not a huge Prince fan, but just a click check of AMG All Music proves that he didn't make an album for any company other than Warner Brothers (except for his own company, but he was still under Warner's I think) during his time there.
