my girlfriend got me to read this book and it was quite awesome. Given, trying to explain the plot to my family was like trying to explain high school physics to my dog, but it was a great book nonetheless. I have to say that my favorite character was Arturo though. While he may not've been the most ethically sound of characters, he was incredibly well developed in his madness.
