I for one favor adding technology (i.e. replay review, sensors under home plate) to take out as many of the bad calls as possible. An experiment could be done in spring training games to see how to make it work best. No more umps saying "that's MY strike zone", no more bad calls deciding the big games. I know the argument about the human element being a big part of the game; I just don't accept that it has to stay that way.
The crew last night did great in getting it right, but I don't understand why the ump in the outfield has to get help on those calls? Same thing happened on a home run call in the first round (don't remember exactly which game, but I think it was Yankees and Twins); the guy closest to it missed the call.
