Sadly, we'll never see anything even close to the muscle car era again. Gas will never be that cheap again, emissions laws are too strict, and insurance companies are too willing to bend you over. They can do some very cool stuff with forced induction these days, but there's just no replacement for displacement.
I was next to a beautiful, mint Chevelle SS the other day, and it still blows my mind that you could walk into a dealership and just buy something like that. I'd have loved to have been around back then.

The muscle car wars are in full effect actually and they are bordering on the level of flat out dwarfing what was out in the 60s.
The only problem is they are hot machines wrapped in dull packages.
And the new Charger is coming out but considering it's going to be a 4 door based on the LX platform(think 300C) it's going to be 3800-4000 lbs easily.
It'll be fast but it's going to be heavy.
That same power in a Mustang sized car....can you say 12 second quarter miles bone stock...oh yes you can...
