Questions about tonight's ALCS Game Two
Please don't turn this into a "Yankees suck!" or "Red Sox suck!" thread.
As a Yankees fan, sure I'm happy about last night, to some degree. The whole 7 runs on 10 hits thing was a bit unsettling.
Something about Lieber worries me. He had a no-hitter going against Boston earlier this season, but as Bill Simmons put it, "he's still Jon Lieber." Luckily, Pedro has me the least worried I've ever been. Not sure if it was his comments, the Yankee bats last night, or what. Maybe it's because I'm just glad it's in NY.
Will Matsui continue to be hot? He had quite the game last night, at least from behind the plate. I love you man, but you gotta make that catch at the wall. It was pretty much in your glove. Argh.
I expect a similar game tonight as last night. I think New York will strike early until their soft relief comes in, leaving room for Boston to come back. Partly. Not all the way. Hopefully. Boston bats scare me, sometimes. Especially Ortiz. Best news for Yankee fans: Rivera seemed able to concentrate and play last night. He'll quiet the Boston comeback again.
Maybe not as many runs as last night, but I see the same outcome. Boston closes the gap late, but it's not enough. NY 6 Boston 4.
By the way, is the NL even having a championship series? Did MLB just decide to make the ALCS the World Series? I remember hearing about the NLDS but nothing since. I feel kind of bad for Houston and StL fans. Especially since tonight the games have the same starting time. Did anyone hear Buck last night explaining that the entire nation minus those teams' markets will be watching NYY-BOS? I wonder how the rest of the country feels about this.
