Questions about tonight's ALCS Game Two

Please don't turn this into a "Yankees suck!" or "Red Sox suck!" thread.

As a Yankees fan, sure I'm happy about last night, to some degree. The whole 7 runs on 10 hits thing was a bit unsettling.

Something about Lieber worries me. He had a no-hitter going against Boston earlier this season, but as Bill Simmons put it, "he's still Jon Lieber." Luckily, Pedro has me the least worried I've ever been. Not sure if it was his comments, the Yankee bats last night, or what. Maybe it's because I'm just glad it's in NY.

Will Matsui continue to be hot? He had quite the game last night, at least from behind the plate. I love you man, but you gotta make that catch at the wall. It was pretty much in your glove. Argh.

I expect a similar game tonight as last night. I think New York will strike early until their soft relief comes in, leaving room for Boston to come back. Partly. Not all the way. Hopefully. Boston bats scare me, sometimes. Especially Ortiz. Best news for Yankee fans: Rivera seemed able to concentrate and play last night. He'll quiet the Boston comeback again.

Maybe not as many runs as last night, but I see the same outcome. Boston closes the gap late, but it's not enough. NY 6 Boston 4.

By the way, is the NL even having a championship series? Did MLB just decide to make the ALCS the World Series? I remember hearing about the NLDS but nothing since. I feel kind of bad for Houston and StL fans. Especially since tonight the games have the same starting time. Did anyone hear Buck last night explaining that the entire nation minus those teams' markets will be watching NYY-BOS? I wonder how the rest of the country feels about this.

i think last nights game was about two things, first we got to see schilling and how hurt he really is, and second that mussina pitched a awesome game until the 6th inning. other than that it was even imo. lieber is pretty good pitcher but his thing is throwing strikes and getting hitters to put the ball in play, those pitchers usually don't succeed in the playoffs (i think espn wrote a piece on him). As for pedro, well 50/50 shot what pitcher shows up, he is either going to strike out 10 and be on fire or he'll get lit up like a candle. i am a jays fan so my team is no were near the playoffs, but i am sick of seeing the yankees ever october. would be nice to see some else go to the world series....to be the team to loses to st.louis hehe
Matsui was awesome at the dish last night, that first double was clutch for yankee's. The boston hitters just don't scare me that much, i think they are very good, but the yankee's are just to good at the plate.

My only question is which Yankee Pedro will throw at after giving up his 4th run.

Matsui is just great. He worries me the same way Nick Johnson has in the past. You just get a feeling that he will put the bat on the ball anytime he needs to.

I feel pretty good about Pedro tonight. Whatever happens though it should be good television.

It seems like Schilling might be out for good. I hope that isn't the case, because I think that might destroy the red sox advantage. oh well. Should be fun

This is the real world series

My emotions couldn't be higher watching this series....I'm very curious - what are the few markets that will see the nlds game tonight besides sl and houston. When they were explaining the coverage, they mentioned SL, Houston, and a "few select markets"....what is that?

Probably the next batter; Pedro doesn't seem to discriminate who he hits; remember the ever-so-worthless Karim Garcia?

I expect things to be much the same as last night. I think the Yanks will get to Pedro for 4 runs but I think he'll go at least 7 maybe 8 innings. In Game 2 against Anaheim, Pedro was back to the old Pedro. Granted, Anaheim ain't the Yanks, but I think it gave him some confidence going into this game.

Jon Lieber. Jon Lieber. Hmmmmm. I would love to bash this guy, but I think he could give the Yanks a solid start like Burkett did for the Sox in Game 6 of last year's ALCS and possibly pull out a win. The Sox need to get going early on him. If they had gotten even one run early on Mussina last night, things definitely would've been different.

Sox will take this game 5-4. I expect big things from Millar and Mueller tonight. Both are lifetime .400+ hitters against Lieber.

And hey, if the Sox win tonight, it's down to a best of five with the Boston holding the home field advantage.

The Red Sox suck! The Yankees suck! ....er...sorry...we weren't supposed to do that.
I think tonight is fight night. Something is going to happen. Pedro will go high and inside on somebody, the benches will clear, and perhaps later a baseball game will break out. Yep, probably Boston tonight...but the curse will live on.

Well,
I think that Pedro really needs to pull a win here.
If he doesn't he will really get reamed by the crowd, and his confidence will be really shot.

I'm rooting for the Yankees, but I just saying that is what Pedro would need to do if he does not want to be the laughing stock of NY for eternity.
Becasue he will be.
All of NY will be his daddy.

I'm sure he is not that bad of a guy to deserve that, even though I would probably say it as well Whose your daddy.

I mean you can t go and say that you will drill the babe in the ass and then say the yankees are your daddy.
The guy really needs to find a way to save his self respect tonight or he will always be a fool in new yorkers eyes.

and for a pitcher of his talent that is pretty sad.

Red sox should try to get 6 solid innings fro mhim and then pull him regardless.

Other wise he will wear down and be dismantled.

As for Leiber he was pretty solid against the Twins, he should do fine tonight.

Pedro hit A-Rod, by the way, while the game was still scoreless.
