i'm stumped. i've asked around uni, i've got an appointment with an accounting academic regarding this next week, but i thought i'd try the wise people at TFP to my problem.
I'm enrolled in bach of commerce, and plan to major in accounting. however, i have enough credit points to take on some additional units outside of commerce faculty, so i'm thinking a maths minor alongside it.
what would be a better direction, based on the fact that i have to take probability & statistics subjects in 2nd year no matter what (course requirement).
taking
financial maths (2nd subject) in 2nd year, then
stochastic modelling (2nd subject) in 3rd year
or taking an additional first year subject in 2nd year, then a 2nd year
introduction to operations research. and
decision making subjects? (the reason for the additional 1st year subject is because i dont meet the pre-requisites for operations research with the 1st year units i've done so far, i'm lacking linear algebra).
for accounting, i have to take 2 finance units as part of the requirements, and am interested in learning more in the field. my maths background is quite strong, and enjoy it thoroughly.
i just dont know which way to go would be more beneficial later on? any thoughts?
