Sorry but it is the big game. number 2 versus number 5 trumps number 1 versus number 7. Let's say both Cal and Texas lose this weekend. Cal drops out of the top 10. Texas will drop into the bottom half. Bigger stakes for Texas there. If OU and USC both lose this weekend...OU drops below Texas if USC loses they likely still won't be ranked below Cal. Bigger stakes for OU.
Also add into the fact the Texas/OU game is one of the longest running and most hotly contested rivalries in college football and it's unique in that it's played on a neutral field against a back drop of a gigantic state fare and I gotta wager that the Texas/OU game is a bigger game than USC versus Cal.
But I will be keeping an eye on the USC/Cal game as well. I'm hoping Cal does win and I hope my Horns take care of business tomorrow. If both of those happen UT just might get to see number 1 or at least number 2 and have a nice inside track to the championship game.
