The construction time is about four-six hours. It takes a little longer with the staining. To get the grain effect on the door, I stained it, and sanded it almost all the way off. That took a little more time. The most time consuming thing is the drying time. I put three coats of polyurethane on it so that it can sit outside for years without problems. The total time is a couple of days, when you consider that I let it dry overnight between each coat.

I was doing a google search for woodworking plans, and I stumbled across a site that sold the plans for these doors. I bought the plans, and changed them around a little bit until I got the look I liked. I've got one sitting in the front of my house, and the neighborhood kids love it.
