I had a similar problem like that once, running windows ME too... Anyways I had to fix this using only the keyboard which was really annoying. I didn't want to reformat so here's what I did. First go to the contrl panel folder. You can do this by typing tab and when it selects the Start menu icon press enter. Navigate to the System Icon. Open it and go to Device Manager. Check your videocard and mouse, using the arrow keys to open the +. If you see a yellow exclamation point open and it says something about Driver Errors then you'll have to do whats next. If not then you have a different problem then I did.

- Go to the run icon in the Start menu.
- Type in c:\windows\system.ini if you see alot of nonsense text then go on. If not this is being caused by another error. By nonsense text I mean like black blocks and other symbols and no letters.
- Go to the run icon again and type in sysbckup.
- uncompress one of the zip files and fine a file called system.ini, Open this and see if there's any nonsense text. If there is go to another of the zip files and check.
- save the system.ini file into the windows folder and replace the old one. restart and you should have your mouse and screen back again.
- if you still don't have your screen back at normal colors redownload your videocard drivers and reinstall.

I had those exact 3 problems you listed and didn't have a virus. Now if you do have a virus you can always use System restore found in the System tools folder.
Hope that solves your problem. If you need help along the way send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.
