The "Progestin-only-pill" (also called "POP" by those who don't want to pronounce progestin I guess) has no estrogen in it but still works just as well. I think the one I was taking was called Micronor. I believe it still allows you to ovulate but prevents the sperm from ever reaching the egg...don't quote me on that point though. It's more often given to women who are over 35 and who smoke, as a lot of the risk factors associated with the pill have to do with the estrogen.
Anyway, I did experience some weight gain, moodiness, that sort of thing. The most noticable side effect is that you won't have regular periods at all, just odd random bleeding here and there. It was usually brief and light, but you have to be prepared for it to come any old time. And since the amount of hormones in it is lower than even the amountof progestin in the regular pill, you have to be sure you take it at the same time every day or use a backup method, for three days I think it was.
