Xm Radio has launched a new service on channel 247, coincidentally, called the 24/7 Emergency Information Channel.

It is currently broadcasting information about Hurricane Ivan.

Pretty cool when you consider that some people may not have any stations operating near them as Ivan distrupts power to homes and transmitting sites and or damages transmitting antennas.
