We all have issues we carry with us from childhood - it's kind of the nature of the beast - but even though the experiences I had as a kid left me with some "baggage," they also made me who I am, and I (finally) like myself. Every "bad" thing that my parents did that I resented them for for years and years was really a lesson that shaped my identity. I don't resent them for anything any more, and I'm grateful for having them as my parents. "I'm going to fuck them up" is kind of a cop-out reason to not have kids, IMHO.
