I'm sure others saw Episode I opening night...I was in San Francisco at the old 1200+ person theater there (can't remember the name. Fillmore? I dunno.). Just being in that environment actually made the movie tolerable! I didn't realize it was bad until the 2nd time I watched it...

sometimes it's not about the crowd..
for me it's about the quality of the print. As the film passes through the projector it gets scratched, scraped, and other types of damage. So the first few days that the print is actually in use, you get the best visuals.. of course if the bulb sucks, and the rest of the theater isn't up to par or spec, then it's not going to matter.
It's one of the reasons I like watching the digital versions... they are crisp and clean as watching a DVD on a giant TV.
