I've been to these and by far the most memorable for me was the Gramercy Tavern in New York City. I loved this place but that's probably got as much to do with the company that particular evening (and maybe more the after prom - if ya get my drift) than for the actual meal.
Outside of that the only other place that stands out is The Cliff in Barbados but that's because of the ambiance/atmosphere. It's right on the water and I had the best surf & turf combo. I think the fish was grouper and the beef was two fold: an 8 oz filet mignon and a single braised short rib. Absolutely fabulous!
The others were all good but in the grand scheme of things -- as the original poster mentioned perhaps a pizza is just as good depending on circumstance and company.
