I'm 35 and had a vasectomy almost 2 years ago. The surgery was a bit uncomfortable in that the tugging on the vas deferens was very strange, but otherwise, the nicks I had from shaving "the boys" in preparation for the surgery was actually worse. That and the sutures poking in strange places until they fell out.
More or less horny? I'd say MORE since I no longer worry about timing issues, etc. regarding pregnancy. That makes for more peace of mind as well.
Taste? Can't answer that one, but I'd hypothesize that it would not alter the taste much, if at all as the amount of actual content of the ejaculate is only reduced by a tiny amount.
I'd recommend the vasectomy.
