Dear Carmelo Anthony,
Carmelo,
You were one of my favorite basketball players for the past two years. I have watched you in situations where your team desperately needed the skills & talents you possess to provide scoring and morale for your team. On top of this you accepted this obligation and you always seemed to smile as if this was another day playing pick-up ball. Today I am confused about whether I support you or not.
On this 2004 Olympic team you are not "THE MAN"....you are just one of the guys. This team is studded with talents and athletes who all face the challenge of being Jesus (insert the name of your savior here) for their respective teams. Faced with the task of leading this group of stars is Larry Brown who you must please in order to be on the court.
I urge you Carmelo to adhere to the policies of Coach Brown because you seem to fit the stereo-type of the ball players getting contracts and hype from mostly African American heritage....you appear to be self-centered. The Olympics calls for those who are self-less. YOU BEGGED TO GET ON THE TEAM. Your image is being crushed day by day and I am sure in 10 years you will regret your actions.
I have great faith that your skills are top five in the league if the measure is "Putting the Ball in the Hoop". Leave that for the NBA season and get with the International Buffet the rest of the team are fitting their bibs for. I hated Michael Jordan during his day because he always beat the home team yet I would always admire his effort on both sides of the floor and the respect for him from teammates and coach which grew to levels where it seemed as though he was the coach himself.
PLEASE WAKE UP!!!!
If this is how you want to act you could have spent the summer in Uprtown Manhattan playing in the Entertainers Basketball Classic @ Rucker Park.
Sincerely,
Bookman, a fan who is starting to second guess you.
