Yeah, and the main reason for the extra delay for season five was a salary dispute with James Gandolfini.
The other reason for the delay is that David Chase wants to take time on each season to make sure that quality shows are produced.
I understand how you could be dissapointed with season five (I have the same arguement with all my friends who were basically just plain dissapointed with this last season). However I think the show has stayed compelling. Sure there's less violence and therefore slower episodes. But I think they managaed to keep the drama taut without resorting to sensationalism. Besides, I think they'll surely rev things up for the final season.
