Nope. Any hardcore usenet porn downloader can tell you they've found lots of CP without even trying. Ask those same ppl if they enjoyed it. Porn generally doesn't change you unless you already had a predisposition to that fetish.

Plus, apply that logic to gay porn...if we could get enough of it online we could turn more men gay. I've looked at gay porn when I worked porn retail and it didn't bother me but it definitely never aroused me, so I don't see that idea as valid.

Actually I've run across less CP in the last year than I used to, partially because I've learned what keywords to avoid and where *not* to go to get porn. PPl who like CP are also getting smarter with hiding it. I found a guide to "security" on usenet that explained in detail how to LEA proof your HDDs and use proxies and whatnot. Pedos have always been there, and don't forget in history very yong marriages weren't as uncommon as today. 12 year olds or younger getting married and knocked up weren't unheard of back in the old days. The internet has just made CP easier to obtain, just as it has the 1.5 million images of porn I have downloaded in the last 1.5 years, or the hundred thou or so extreme gore pics I could never have collected without it. The net can be a great or horrible tool depending on how we wield it.

3) People who might have remained "in the closet" about their pedophilia a generation ago are unable to control themselves thanks to the proliferation of Internet kiddie porn.

You'd be surprised actually at what pedos say about their desires. Many hate what they are or want to keep themselves in check because they really love kids as ppl. I've read their forums extensively after a fellow at another forum came out as a pedo and I've realized many of them aren't bad ppl they just have a bad sexual preference. I'm not sure if viewing CP is a good idea for a pedo or not....I guess it would depend if they could contain their desires with it rather than molest a real child, and even in that case there are several sites that have pedo content that is legal, i.e. story sites and anime/toon CP so I can't really rule on the necessity of pics. It's a space I'm glad i'm not in I can tell you that.

4) Law enforcement and society are taking the threat more seriously and are doing more about it.

I dunno...it's still wayyyy to easy to find CP. Give me 2 minutes and I can find CP if I'm actually looking. It really is that easy. and as I mentioned you queue a batch of 3000 pics to download in alt.binaries.pictures.erotica and some asshole decides to post CP you grab those pics and don't know till you come home and hit the slideshow of your downloads. Plus if you don't know certain keywords on P2P you can easily get CP in a zip file of pics or whatever, without even trying. Problem is they can only do so much since the content server might be an eMule client in Svenska or on posted on an encrypted network. Ppl will always find a way, just like warez and other downloads.

5) Criminal investigation has progressed to a point where charges can stick better, therefore arrests are increasing.

I'm not too sure on this one. Sure LEA can scan HDDs very well and find deleted stuff but it depends on the frequency and volume of the downloads before they can assume guilt. I can tell you an easy way to download anything and save your "loot" with absolutely no trace on your PC. Anybody with a little tech know how can easily do it.

6) Counseling procedures are more successful in convincing children to speak out.

Let's hope so.

No. I think pedos always had feelings for kids, or were pushed towards that path by being abused themselves. I really don't think withdrawing from society digitally causes pedophilia. I can see the densensitization argument working somewhat but I still there has to be the absence of a block to get off to CP no matter how desensed you are. Everyone has a moral limit except sociopaths, and I think real ones are still in the minority on the net

Not really. Many men like girls to appear as young as possible without actually being pedos, hence the shaved pussy. These men (and women) are known as ephebophiles, being atrracted to adolescents but not kids under age 12. I think ephebophilia is much more generally accepted due to the early sexual maturity of teenagers these days and the fact girls in their teens look more like women then they did before. Society sexualizes teens greatly and the media serves up images of sexy little Britney asking you to "Hit Me Baby One More Time" im a cliche schoolgirl outfit. Even younger girls are sexualized, as demonstrated by all the Child Supermodel sites and pageants. I find it incredible all these things are done in the open with such a stigma against pedophilia in our society.

Also the shaved thing is extended to guys as well. The paradigm has shifted in regards to body hair on both sexes. It's rare to hear a girl say these days she likes hairy men and when I worked at a porn store mainly older men wanted hairy girl porn like you saw in the 70s. Hair == bad in our society on men and women.

I taught elementary school for 12 years, and the P.E. teacher in the classroom adjacent to mine was convicted of molesting several little girls at our school. Thank God for prisons.

You shouldn't be using Kazaa for porn anyway unless you like nasty stuff or low quality garbage. Use other P2P that have sites with verified dl links to the content like eMule does. I would post what you could avoid but knowledge is a two edged sword and I can't say if a lurker won't read my tips and use them as a manual to get CP. But lose Kazaa as a porn source, please. eMule has really great stuff and if you find an index site that verifies the files are real then you don't have to worry about CP.

I know this is a weird rant, but I can't help but be concerned about this growing trend I keep noticing.
