Check out Republic Windows (if there is a local dealer)--pretty good Double Pane/Low e/etc. window
Their website didn't really say much about efficiency, "r" rating, etc.
A couple of suggestions:
1) Extruded vinyl is very strong for a frame. Extruded aluminum for screen frames is the best
2) Some companies offer a glass replacement warranty as well, which is nice to have
3) The best brand I have ever seen was Shuco. Don't know if they are around any more, but they were really good windows (hefty price tag though)
4) Personally, I think efficiency ratings are the most important thing to use when comparing windows.
