Apparently, today is a really bad day for small, delicate people like me to run around with big guys who are feeling especially reckless.
I decided to take my lunch break to play ultimate frisbee today - I thought it would be good for me to run around and clear my head so that I didn't go into the second half of my day worrying about all the work I didn't get done while my laptop was giving me the blue screen of death.
About 2 minutes into the game, a very big tall guy bulldozed me and I went from running purposefully to sitting on the grass, dizzy and disoriented, without my glasses on. I didn't even see him coming or feel the impact, but a few seconds later, my throbbing jaw told me where his elbow caught me. That's when I discovered that PART OF MY TOOTH WAS MISSING. Gah!
Half of my upper last molar got sliced off (probably by my lower molar) and I didn't even know where it was. I didn't spit it out with the small mouthful of blood, and I didn't feel anything in my mouth that was even remotely tooth-shard-like. "You must have swallowed it," everyone told me.
Gee, thanks. I can't imagine having had time to swallow something like that when it all happened so quickly.
What's worse is that I don't know what I lost out there in the grass - a piece of tooth, a filling, or both. I suspect it may be at least a piece of tooth because there's a freshly exposed part of my gums.
Does anybody know if a simple filling can fix this or will I have to get something more complicated like a cap?
