Cpanel X is really cool... i use it for all of my clients that i host (i own an internet production company)... depending on who your host is depends on your choices a couple really cool things cpanel has is the scripts library and the cgi center.. these two things can save you a mountain of work... basically what they do is they instal cgi apps and various mySQL database apps (ie.. invision power board, PHPnuke, BBboard, CGIemail, entropy search, and several others)
Cpanel can be confusing at first glance because of all of the options.. most of them you really dont need unless your setting up a massive website and know alot about web development and numerous scripting languages,
other things u can do w/ cpanel.. set up chats, front page extensions, shopping carts, redirect certain pages, edit your error pages, lock directories so u need a password to access them and much much more..
