Cottage, Camp, Summer house?
It's summer and many of us in Ontario willl be heading to the cottage or camp if you are from the northern part of the province...
If you have a cottage, where is it? Tell us a story about it. If you don't do you rent, do you go to a friend's or do you swelter in the city?
Growing up we never had a cottage, instead we went camping or went to friend's cottages when invited.
My wife's family has some land in the Ottawa Valley. Her family homesteaded the land many years ago, they still have a working farm in the area. In fact, there is a town and a Provinical Park named after her family (Foymount and Foy Provinical Park). A generation or so ago (her grandparents generation) a series of lots on Round Lake were severed from the Farm and given to all the brother's and sisters.
The result is that one end of this very big lake is completely undeveloped, and still owned by the family. In the middle of this stretch are three cottages and one empty lot owned and occupied by family.
It is a very special place and I am very lucky to be able to go there on a relatively frequent basis. I would go more often if it wasn't so far from Toronto. Roughly 4.5 hours from Toronto (although I've done the trip in 3.5) and only 2 hours from Ottawa... 20 minutes west of Pembroke and very close to Killaloe.
Where do you go in the Summer?
