The gunblast.com article was where I first saw the Beowulf .50 about a year ago. Personally, I'd snatch one up in a heartbeat, for a few reasons:
1) 3-inch groups at 100 yards? Good enough for me, be it hunting or a firefight. I wish I could always kill targets with one shot from at least 800 meters, but the real world ain't like that.
2) Recoil? Well, it'd probably be solid, but not horrendous. Remember, that buffer spring in the stock or the AR-15/M-16 can take a pounding, and it can always be upgraded.
3) Picatinny rail for optics, and/or thermals? Hell yeah. I wouldn't have to clear a room the old fashioned way, I could just blast through a damn cinderblock wall if I need to. Presto - room clear, at no risk to me!
Okay, so maybe number 3) is a bit of a fantasy, but I'd still love to play with one of those things. I've got 14 30 rd. magazines for my -16A4, and the .50 Beowulf can go about 12-15 rounds in those. That's a LOT of playtime!
Then again, you put it like that, I'd be walking around with about $1200 worth of Beowulf ammo on me if I had all my mags filled...
