Personally, I prefer beers I've brewed myself, which probably has something to do with my preference for stout. I make one I consider superior to Sweetwater Tavern's gold medal winning Imperial Stout.
I've also made excellent Münchner Dunkel and Helles Lagers, and prety fair pale and scottish ales and porters.
The only kinds of beer I really am not fond of are Barley wines (tend to be unpleasantly bitter with lots of myrcene and other high alpha hops signatures, and metallic - bloody even), American Standard/Premium Lager (Budweiser - no taste to speak of), overly sour Belgian Ales (Scaldis - stuff tastes like parmesan and copper shavings), and Rauchbiers (taste like candied woodsmoke - not why I drink beer.)
Arrogant Bastard rocks. Double Bastard is way too malty to balance properly. Stone's Ruination IPA is pretty frickin' intense too. So's their Smoked Porter. (only smoked beer I really enjoy.)
