Gatlinberg/Pigeon Forge is a huge tourist mecca - -Dollywood is right there.
There's a ton of traffic, a ton of people, crowds wherver you go, and during high tourist season, which is most of the summer, it's not cheap. There's lots of neat craft type things to see - I was there about three years ago for a weekend, and honestly there were so many freakin' people, it was not enjoyable (It took two hours to drive about 4 miles)
I don't remember the pricing on it, but Hocking Hills, about an hour from Columbus, was a real pretty area in Ohio, that had lots of things to see and do -- in a nice relaxing environment
