I'm a research administrator. I manage money and logistics (and occasionally egos) for Ph.D.s. I also plan our research meetings, which means I get to travel to great places. This year I'm not traveling as much as I used to, but 2-3 years ago I was gone at least once a month, to great places like Chicago and New Orleans and Seattle. And we stay in swank hotels. Sometimes my life is too good to be true.
Hung out at Grace Cathedral for a while before dinner. For an agnostic, I sure like big churches a lot. There's something about being in these huge, calm spaces that puts me in touch with Whatever-It-Is that's bigger than me. Of course, Japanese gardens do the same thing for me with less marble and crucifiction talk and stuff, but hey, it takes all kinds.
