I see where you are coming from here. but I do also think that has a double standard to it. Men can feel equally inadequit if the female is using a toy more for her enjoyment rather than her SO.
But I don't mind if my partner were to use a toy. I like the experience as a whole rather than feeling left out. its all good.
On the side of men using a toy for masturbation. I think the stigma is just what Amano said originally.
