FF series are not really RPG's per se, they're really their own genre of a story being told in 3rd person via a game. That's not an RPG. They really should call FF-style games something else.
As far as story-games go, Chrono Trigger and FF7 were awesome, but let's face it, nothing can touch Xenogears.
