It has been done, many times.
Easiest with 1000+cc sportsbikes, but there are some GSXR600s that have been turbocharged with small garret turbos ( the ones for the 1.3 liter beetle, I will try to find specs...)
As far as a weedeater, how to turbo it? Good luck. It is a tiny engine, and two stroke. I don't know of any turbocharged two strokes in existance ( well, except for diesel engines
)
If you did manage to find out a way to turbocharge it, you would be rolling in dough.
Remote control cars/airplanes and 50cc pocketbikes/racebikes are two applications that would use it in great numbers....
But, you have the following problems :
Do a google search for model aircraft gas engines... they are about the same size, displacement wise. I read an article once that said they don't have enough exhaust pressure to drive a theoretically matched size turbo.
I believe it.
Problem number two : You forget that these small two strokes have a pressurized crank case. Are you going to blow up the crank case from turboing?
And three has already been mentioned. Heat.
