I have seen something along the same lines happening in Singapore and Thailand.
While there is some truth in that article, there's also something missing which is people willing to COMPROMISE. It takes two people and anything with more than one person requires a compromise at some point in time.
IMHO the above article doesn't reflect repression, but more so selfishness.
