I didn't really have anything new to add besides the name

We studied LED's briefly this past semester in Materials Science - the actual semi-conductors in them and such - very efficient, but it generally takes a lot of them or very good fiber optics to get an equal amount of light from them.
Personally, I wouldn't use them everywhere in my home, but in a basement, they'd be great.
