I was talking to a friend at work today who is a real Phish-head and when we got to talking about the impending break-up, his face kinda got all red and he looked sooo forlorn I thought he was going to cry...I felt so bad. Here is a guy who has devoted a very large part of his life to going to shows and getting into the whole culture...going to each show was kind of like going to a family reunion each time. And now it is winding down...much like the dying of a loved one.
I kinda am bummed only because I only just started getting into the whole "Jam-band" thing recently and probably won't get a chance to see them. But in their 21 years together they've put out hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours of great, eclectic music. most of which have been captured in one digital format or another by my friends. Also there are a few quality bands that will gladly take the helm of the starship, put 'er in warp-drive and guide the fans into the future. I've been turned on to String Cheese Incident and a band called New Monsoon who I had the positively perfect pleasure of seeing at a local club.
~Hey Guttersnipe...Maybe I'll see you at Bonnaroo. I'll be the one with the grin on my chin!!!
