This show is a natural growth from the inexplicable William Hung phenomon, but that doesn't make it good or right.
Reality TV is at it's worst when it chooses to take well intentioned people and humiliate them in front of millions. It's unbelievable that any self respecting gay man, for example, would volunteer for a show like Boy Loves Boy (or whatever it's called), or that small people would sign up for that dwarf dating show on Fox.
The Swan seems well intentioned at first, but then you realize that they are taking people with zero self esteem, making them superficially "pretty", but then telling them that they still aren't good enough to be in some ludicrous beauty pageant. Heinous.
The best Reality show on TV is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. It's the only show with an ounce of philanthropic intentions and it clearly changes people's lives. Good stuff if you can catch it on Sunday's on ABC.
