Don't mean to sound like a troll or anything, but I honestly can't understand for the life of me why people think this movie is scary (other than those who saw it when they were 6-7 years old when it was released back in '73)... and I'm a HUGE fan of all horror (provided it's actually scary).
Do you have to be strictly religious to find this frightening, or am I missing something here? I just find it odd that this is hailed as a perfect work of horror, yet ... there's nothing remotely scary about it (to me).
It's not that I have a problem suspending disbelief, because IMO, Aliens is as unreal as you can get, yet it's more frightening than The Exorcist, so I don't know what it is. Maybe it's just not my thing.. maybe I missed the boat on this one

That dialogue that was posted, for example, I find nothing remotely terrifying about it. I know the exact scene in which it happens, but... yeah, does nothing for me

( and trust me, I'd love nothing more than to have the crap scared out of me by a movie)
