A fan set up a site called
justafan.org where people can make PayPal donations in the band's name to a charity called
Doctors Without Borders that "delivers emergency aid to victims of armed conflict, epidemics, and natural and man-made disasters, and to others who lack health care due to social or geographical isolation." It was set up to show thanks to the Through May 11th, fans have contributed $8,910 in the band's name through the site. Judging by the numbers on the Doctors Without Borders website, that should pay for an emergency health kit to care for over 16,000 displaced people for three months.
I donated $15 a few weeks ago since I downloaded the whole album off of eMule. I'll buy the official release when it comes out. I think that's pretty much par for the course for people who've donated. They downloaded the album so they donated the cost of a CD as thanks for getting to hear the album a couple of months early and they plan on buying it when it comes out. Hopefully more bands will follow this example in the future. Their YHFT sales were great before, even after having been leaked, so hopefully the sales of this album won't be impacted too much either.
