Question about Wilco

Does anyone have access to the free EP Wilco put out a while ago on the internet? I have the numbers from inside the YHF cd booklet that you need to enter to get the EP , but I went to the site and could find nothing about it. Am I too late? Can anyone help?

I think you have to put the cd into your drive and follow the links there to a secret site where you can listen to it and download the mp3's.

Apparently all the songs on the bonus ep were released on a special disc in Australia only as well. But if you have YHF then the easiest thing to do would be to put it into your computer.

Hope that helps.

I don't remember there being a special link on the CD, but I could be wrong. I do know that the link was on the Wilcoworld site at some point. You might want to check EMule or some of the other Peer2Peer groups.

Awesome, just what I was looking for.

I've been on a Wilco kick lately, this should help out.

No, you're right. "A Ghost is Born" comes out on June 22nd, I believe.
wilcoworld.net has been streaming the album online for a while. Some copies showed up on peer-to-peer networks in March and they decided to do as they did with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and just offer it up free on their website to their fans prior to the official release.

Here's the tracklisting:
At Least That's What You Said 5:35
Hell Is Chrome 4:40
Spiders (Kidsmoke) 10:48
Muzzle Of Bees 4:58
Hummingbird 3:13
Handshake Drugs 6:09
Wishful Thinking 4:43
Company In My Back 3:48
I'm A Wheel 2:39
Theologians 3:38
Less Than You Think 15:06
The Late Greats 2:30

A fan set up a site called justafan.org where people can make PayPal donations in the band's name to a charity called Doctors Without Borders that "delivers emergency aid to victims of armed conflict, epidemics, and natural and man-made disasters, and to others who lack health care due to social or geographical isolation." It was set up to show thanks to the Through May 11th, fans have contributed $8,910 in the band's name through the site. Judging by the numbers on the Doctors Without Borders website, that should pay for an emergency health kit to care for over 16,000 displaced people for three months.

I donated $15 a few weeks ago since I downloaded the whole album off of eMule. I'll buy the official release when it comes out. I think that's pretty much par for the course for people who've donated. They downloaded the album so they donated the cost of a CD as thanks for getting to hear the album a couple of months early and they plan on buying it when it comes out. Hopefully more bands will follow this example in the future. Their YHFT sales were great before, even after having been leaked, so hopefully the sales of this album won't be impacted too much either.

Sweet! Bet it'll be a great show. A buddy of mine taped the show in DC last night (and will be taping Bonnaroo too). Usually, bittorrents for his shows get put up pretty quickly for people to download. Once he gets them up, I'll post links here (if I remember).

man I wish they'd come up and tour around these parts again. They put on such a kick ass show.

And Uncle Tupelo... definitly some good stuff there. I caught Jay Farrar on his solo tour when he came through town last year. Great stuff.

I just got back from Bonnaroo last night where I saw Wilco.
It was one of very few performances there that I actually stayed in one place and watched the show completely.
They were awesome. I have Being There and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot... and it's funny...I can't say what it IS that I like about them. I just do. maybe it's the poignant lyrics or the POUNDING out of a lot of their songs that serves as the tunes heartbeat or maybe just the inability to pigeonhole what sound they have. All I know is that I was pretty damn impressed.

alt-country-jazz?
perhaps

yeah, hard for me to pick out what it is that does it for me, but i love 'em. If you only have Being There & YHFT (definitely two great albums), you need to pick up Summerteeth. Actually might be my favorite Wilco album. It's kind of got a Beach Boys Brian Wilson vibe.

A book called "Learning How to Die" about Wilco just came out today. Looks like it'll be really good. The 7th chapter details the breakup of Uncle Tupelo and is printed in the latest issue of No Depression magazine.

By the way, here's the Bonnaroo setlist (in case you wanted to look back over it):

1. The Late Greats
2. I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
3. Hummingbird
4. At Least That's What You Said
5. Jesus Etc.
6. War on War, Shot In The Arm
7. Muzzle of Bees
8. Company In My Back
9. I'm The Man Who Loves You
10. Theologians
11. Poor Places
12. I'm Always In Love
13. One By One
14. I'm A Wheel
15. Handshake Drugs
16. Spiders (Kidsmoke)

oh, and just found this. A list of bittorrent downloads for Bonnaroo shows. The Wilco one will probably be up there within a week, I would imagine:
