I second saltfish's comment about leaving equipment on makes it more reliable. Numerous studies I have read indicate that leaving them on is good for the computer. Like a car, starting up is the most stressfull time for a computer. Particularly for the power supply. At my place of work we have around 150 servers and workstations in our data center that are on 100% of the time. Very little problems occur. When they do, it's usually when we turn a server off and the disk drives refuse to spin back up when the server is turned back on.
