i don't want to add further confusion to the plethora if information already posted here... but there is one thing that has really really worked for me over the past year... and i discovered it kind of by accident...
DRINK AT LEAST 4 LARGE BOTTLES OF WATER A DAY
no lie... my husband and i each lost around 10 lbs, in 3-4 months, simply by drinking a lot of water.
I did not change my eating habits... i was drinking the water to help my husband who was trying to kick his caffeine habit. it was a added bonus to have the weight come off effortlessly...
give it a try... it certainly can't hurt...
