If yopu find a V6 of the models years you are looking at make sure it has had head gasket work done. There was a big recal because they were blowing them on a regluar basis. The 22RE 4 cyclinder is a good reliable motor not as much grunt as the 3.0 liter V6 but with a standard tranny it feels really soild. My Dad has a 94 4Runner with the V6 runs strong but I would definitely want the standard (which he has). I understand from other the the automatics are just a little don't feel as peppy. Right now I have an 82 with a 180000 on the original drivtrain a very little mods they are strong trucks. Good luck.
