Haven't checked out the sports threads in a while, so its great to see a Cowboys topic.
I hope Julius Jones will be good, and I'm trying to look at him without any fan bias. He's a good sized, pretty quick, breaks a few tackles and catches extremely well. The only problem is he fumbles, and Parcells absolutely hates fumblers. I think thats one reason he doesn't like Troy Hambrick. If he wouldn't have fumbled as much last year, I don't think they would have been looking for a RB as bad. Hopefully, Julius will be the "surprise" runningback from this years draft, ala Clinton Portis or Domanick Davis from years prior.
The linemen look alright, and they're from winning teams, so you know they're talented. Sean Ryan, the TE, looks like he could contribute a little this year, but he's probably developmental. I think the only ones that will make an impact this year are Jacob Rogers, Stephen Peterman, and of course Julius Jones.
Larry Allen has to get his shit straight. He's been so used to not having any discipline with the previous four coaches that he's letting the new style get to him. He's too good and too damn respected to lower himself to the level of a grumpy veteran.
Last year, Jerry Jones and Parcells were really excited about Al Johnson in training camp, and then the injury bug struck AGAIN. I'm hoping he is fully rehabilitated, so the Cowboys can return to the days of having the most dominant offensive line in the NFL, not just a few stars here and there. Quincy Carter and the running game need the line to be healthy and in tune if the Cowboys are going to make it back to the Playoffs this year.
I'm really looking forward to training camp and the rest of the offseason, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
